Experience the magic of Greece on a journey that blends meaningful service, ancient history, and unforgettable island adventures. Throughout the week, you'll partner with a local nonprofit supporting refugee communities before exploring the vibrant streets of Athens and the stunning Cycladic islands of Hydra, Naxos, and Paros. From wandering charming villages and relaxing on crystal-clear beaches to learning traditional Greek cooking and watching the sunset over the iconic Portara, this trip offers the perfect balance of purpose, culture, and authentic Mediterranean experiences.
Trip Details
We are a group of avid travelers who love exploring new destinations, experiencing different cultures, and learning about the challenges that differ from our own. On this adventure we'll partner with We Need Books, a nonprofit dedicated to providing books and educational resources to refugee communities throughout Greece — delivering donations and learning about their meaningful work before setting off for the islands.
Accommodations, transportation, daily breakfast, most activities, some meals, and a trip T-shirt are all included. Total trip cost: $2,495 with a $300 deposit to book. Not included: airfare from the US, optional add-ons, trip insurance, some meals, and tips for guides.

Day by Day
Welcome to Athens! Upon arrival, settle into our hotel and take some time to relax before we begin our adventure. Later this afternoon, we'll explore the city on a guided e-bike tour, taking in many of Athens' iconic landmarks before gathering for our Welcome Dinner and getting to know one another. Overnight in Athens.
This morning we'll partner with We Need Books, a nonprofit dedicated to providing books and educational resources to refugee communities throughout Greece. After delivering our donations and learning about their meaningful work, we'll enjoy authentic Greek gyros for lunch. In the afternoon, we'll visit the renowned National Archaeological Museum, home to one of the world's finest collections of ancient Greek artifacts. Dinner is optional this evening at one of Athens' rooftop restaurants. Overnight in Athens.
Today we'll ferry to the picturesque island of Hydra, where cars are replaced by donkeys, boats, and walking paths. After a brief orientation, enjoy free time to wander the charming harbor, browse local boutiques, relax at a waterfront café, or discover hidden beaches using our guided recommendations. We'll return to Athens this evening, with dinner on your own. Overnight in Athens.
After breakfast, we'll board the ferry to the beautiful island of Naxos, our home for the next several days. Upon arrival, settle into our accommodations before experiencing one of Greece's favorite traditions with an authentic hands-on cooking class. Together we'll prepare and enjoy a delicious homemade Greek dinner. Overnight in Naxos.
Enjoy a slow morning before exploring the heart of Naxos. We'll stroll through the historic Venetian Kastro, browse charming local shops, and enjoy free time before relaxing at St. George's Beach. Later, we'll visit Vallindras Distillery for a tasting of the island's signature kitron liqueur before ending the day with sunset at the iconic Portara, one of Greece's most recognizable landmarks. An optional waterfront dinner is available this evening. Overnight in Naxos.
Today we'll ferry to the neighboring island of Paros. Start the morning with a traditional bougatsa pastry before visiting the historic Church of 100 Doors. Spend the day exploring at your own pace by staying in Parikia, visiting the fishing village of Naoussa, or taking a short bus ride to the mountain village of Lefkes. We'll regroup in the afternoon at Kolymbithres Beach for swimming and relaxation before returning to Naxos. Overnight in Naxos.
Today is yours to experience Naxos your way. Whether you're interested in sea kayaking, an ATV adventure, hiking Mount Zeus, scuba diving historic WWII wrecks, or simply enjoying a relaxing beach day, we'll help arrange the experience that's right for you. This evening is free to enjoy dinner wherever you'd like. Overnight in Naxos.
This morning we'll return by ferry to Athens. Enjoy free time for last-minute shopping, sightseeing, or exploring neighborhoods you may have missed earlier in the week. This evening, we'll gather one final time for our Farewell Dinner to celebrate an incredible journey together. Overnight in Athens.
After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to Greece as you transfer to the airport for your flight home. Leave with unforgettable memories, meaningful connections, and a deeper appreciation for Greece's rich history, vibrant culture, and welcoming people.

We do our best to stay in locally owned places, including hotels in Athens and on the island of Naxos. Everyone will have their own bed at each location. It is typically 2-3 people in a room.
You always have the option to hang back at the accommodations if you choose not to participate in an activity. No refunds are issued if you opt out of one of the included activities.
We will immediately notify your listed emergency contact and help secure medical treatment for you if required. It is very important to carry trip insurance that covers medical situations.
Early September is one of the best times to visit Greece. Athens typically sees warm, sunny days in the low-to-mid 80s, while the islands enjoy slightly cooler temperatures, gentle breezes, and a sea that is still wonderfully warm for swimming.
